President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has cautioned Maldivian youth to be vigilant against political manipulation of their legitimate concerns, following widespread public reaction to the April 18 incident where a young woman was discovered on a building rooftop in Malé City.

Speaking to reporters before departing for an official visit to Malaysia, the President acknowledged the authenticity of youth concerns and promised the Government would attentively consider all issues raised. He pledged to take necessary measures to uphold justice, peace, and stability.

The President emphasised that his role is to serve the people who elected him and assured that he would prevent any external interference in justice-related matters. He stressed the importance of remaining receptive to public concerns, including criticism or dissatisfaction with Government policies.

Addressing concerns about the police investigation into the April 18 incident, President Dr Muizzu validated these concerns while noting evidence that certain political figures appeared to be exploiting the situation to foment instability. He urged young people to remain alert and resist allowing their legitimate concerns to be weaponised for political agendas.

The President reaffirmed his commitment to maintaining open dialogue with the public and his willingness to consider all perspectives, including those critical of Government actions or policies.
