The Maldives Police Service (MPS) has issued an advisory urging the public to refrain from swimming at Rasfannu Beach after engine oil was spotted along the shoreline.

According to a statement shared on social media, officers responded to reports of an oil spill in the Rasfannu area and are working in coordination with relevant authorities to manage and clean up the contamination. The police have cautioned against swimming or engaging in any water activities until the situation is brought under control.

The incident is currently under investigation, with efforts underway to assess the extent of the spill and prevent further environmental impact. Authorities have not yet confirmed the source of the engine oil.

The police expressed appreciation for public cooperation and stressed that the precautionary measures were necessary to ensure public safety and to assist clean-up operations.
