MIOT International Hospital --
MIOT International Hospital in India is set to open a new rehabilitation centre in Malé City. The MIOT Rehab Centre, located at G. Moonimaage, will officially launch on Wednesday and will be the country’s first dedicated rehabilitation centre.
The new centre aims to provide essential rehabilitation services for patients suffering from a range of conditions. MIOT Hospital’s management noted that the decision to open the centre follows a decade of building trust with Maldivian patients. The objective is to offer high-quality rehabilitation treatments locally, reducing the need for patients to travel abroad for care, the Hospital noted.
The centre will offer rehabilitation services for neurological, cardiopulmonary, orthopaedic, trauma-related, and cancer-related conditions. A team of specialised doctors from various medical fields will deliver these treatments, ensuring comprehensive care for patients.
In addition to rehabilitation services, the MIOT Rehab Centre will introduce the Next-Gen Thalaessemicin service. This initiative will allow patients in the Maldives to access timely advice and consultations from super-specialists based at MIOT Hospital in Chennai.
MIOT Hospital has maintained close relations with the Maldives' healthcare sector over the past five years, with specialist doctors from the hospital regularly visiting Malé to offer consultations. Established on 12 February 1999 as the Madras Institute of Orthopaedics and Traumatology (MIOT), the hospital began as a 70-bed facility and has since grown into a well-respected medical institution with a strong reputation for specialist care.
