President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has nominated Aishath Asna Hamdhy for the position of Deputy Governor at the Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA).

In a letter submitted to Parliament, the President proposed Asna, a Managing Director at MMA, for the vacant position. The matter has since been referred to the Parliament’s Public Accounts Committee (PAC) for further consideration.

Asna currently heads the MMA’s Finance Sector Development (FSD) department.

The Deputy Governor post became vacant following the resignation of Ahmed Imaadh Latheef, who stepped down after an impeachment motion was filed against him in Parliament.
