Ooredoo has reported a profit of MVR 166 million for the first quarter of 2025, according to the company’s latest financial statements marking a 2.5 percent increase compared to the same period last year.
Total revenue for the quarter stood at MVR 547 million, representing a slight decline of 1 percent compared to MVR 554 million recorded in Q1 2024. This dip is primarily attributed to a reduction in income from mobile services, which saw a decrease from MVR 430 million in the first quarter of 2024 to MVR 411 million in the corresponding period this year.
Nevertheless, the company recorded growth in other areas. Revenue from fixed broadband services increased by 8 percent, rising from MVR 124 million in Q1 2024 to MVR 135 million in Q1 2025. Ooredoo continues to generate income primarily from two key segments: mobile services and its portfolio of fixed-line, broadband internet, and enterprise solutions.
During the first three months of 2025, Ooredoo introduced a series of new products and services aimed at expanding its market presence and enhancing customer engagement. Notably, the company has extended its 5G network coverage to reach 80 per cent of the population. In addition, Ooredoo launched Samsung ESIMS smartwatches and implemented various marketing campaigns during the month of Ramadan.
