Women in Fuvahmulah (WIF), in partnership with Transparency Maldives, will hold its sixth peer group session under the Dhelhahi Project exploring the impact of generational trauma on mental well-being today.

The event, titled "Inherited Wounds: Do They Shape Our Present?", invites community members to engage in a guided, open conversation on Thursday, 21 November 2024, from 8:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Dhelhahi Kotari, located in the WIF Office, Fuvahmulah City.

This interactive session facilitated by trained peer support professionals, aims to provide a safe space for participants to share their experiences and learn from one another. Registration is open to all residents, with sign-ups available through a link or QR code shared by WIF.

The Dhelhahi Project  is a comprehensive mental health initiative designed to address the growing prevalence of mental health issues in Fuvahmulah City. It includes baseline studies on mental health, knowledge transfer initiatives, and the creation of Dhelhahi Kotari—a safe space for community members to engage in intermediate mental health interventions.

The initiative responds to the critical shortage of mental health professionals and preventive care in Fuvahmulah. By creating an inclusive platform for education, discussion, and peer support, the project seeks to bridge these gaps.

The Dhelhahi Project envisions a supportive community where mental health is prioritised, understood, and addressed with empathy. Its focus on building resilience and providing early interventions underscores the urgent need for locally relevant, accessible mental health solutions.
