President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has congratulated the Prime Minister of Australia, Anthony Albanese, on his re-election. 

President Dr Muizzu congratulated Prime Minister Albanese in a message shared on X. 

The President emphasised that this re-election reflected the Australians’ trust in their prime minister. 

Concluding his message, President Dr Muizzu expressed his desire to work together to develop and strengthen the Maldives-Australia bilateral relations. 

Anthony Albanese was first elected Prime Minister of Australia on May 21, 2022, becoming the 31st Prime Minister of Australia. 

Australia and the Maldives collaborate on maritime security, trade, combating transnational crime and climate change, oceans, and the environment. Australia’s development cooperation with the Maldives is delivered primarily through capacity-building partnerships, including direct educational opportunities, sharing Australian expertise in sustainable environmental resource management, and working through UN partners to help strengthen civil society and inclusive governance.
