Police have questioned eight individuals following an operation in Haa Alifu Barah Island, related to reports of suspected sorcery.

The Maldives Police Service stated the operation was launched on Monday based on intelligence information regarding individuals allegedly practising sorcery and black magic on the island. The operation began at 7:00 a.m. local time.

During the operation, police searched and inspected eight locations across the island. Officers also reported seizing items believed to be connected to the case.

Eight people were initially detained for questioning in connection with the allegations. They have since been released.

Police confirmed that an investigation into the matter is ongoing.
