Addu City has announced the allotment of 251 residential freehold plots from the reclaimed area as part of a major land distribution initiative by the city council in a historic first.

The council announced 175 plots in Maradhoo and Maradhoo-Feydhoo, each measuring 1,500 square feet. Of these, 158 plots are allocated for residents of Maradhoo, while 17 are reserved for residents of other areas in Addu City.

In Maradhoo-Feydhoo, 76 plots have been allotted — 68 for local residents and eight for those from other Addu neighbourhoods.

Applications for the plots will be accepted from May 11 to June 24, 2025, through respective ward offices.

The allotment follows the 2023 Addu Land Management Project, which added 190 hectares of land to the city, including 76 hectares to Maradhoo and Maradhoo-Feydhoo, and 80 hectares to Hithadhoo. The land information has been officially published in the Government gazette.

Maradhoo is home to over 2,200 people, while Maradhoo-Feydhoo has a population of more than 1,200.
