The First Basic Mariculture Training Course under the Marine Hatchery Skills Development Program has started with 15 participants. 

The course is being conducted in Kaafu Maniyafushi Research and Training Facility from April 26 to May 08, 2025. 

This course is being conducted under the President’s vision to train the youth to establish hatcheries and develop aquaculture skills to establish a sustainable marine aquaculture industry in the Maldives. 

The Ministry of Fisheries and Ocean Resources revealed that the second Basic Mariculture Training Course will be held in October. 

This course will train individuals to breed aquaculture systems, live food, grouper, sea cucumber, Maldivian anemonefish, and oyster. They will also be trained to identify and prevent diseases affecting breeds and practice environmentally friendly mariculture activities.
