Officers, crews from 9 countries in Maldives for maritime security training

Officers and crews from nine countries participating in the Indian Coast Guard’s exercise, Security and Growth for All in the Region (SAGAR), have arrived in the Maldives.
The exercise will focus on ensuring safety and security in the Indian Ocean.
Sharing information about this program, Commander Kamal Singh Rana stated the Indian vessel set sail on the 5th of last month and stopped at five ports, including the Maldives.
The Commander revealed that 12 officers and 32 crew members from countries in the Indian Ocean Region are participating in this programme, including an officer and three crew members from the Maldivian Coast Guard.
He further explained that almost all the participants were trained in India for maritime weapons combat and helicopter rescue operations. Officers who participated in these operations expressed how much experience they gained in the maritime security field.
The Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) remains hopeful that the joint training exercises will ensure the safety and security of the Indian Ocean.
