The Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has delivered the second shipment of rock boulders required for the ongoing coastal protection project in Noonu Holhudhoo.
MTCC stated that work on designing and constructing protective structures is actively underway. The project includes building a 570-metre stone breakwater and a 375-metre geobag revetment to safeguard the island’s vulnerable shoreline, particularly the eroding area.
Additionally, a 14-metre rock boulder revetment will be constructed near the designated area for beaching boats.
The project was handed over to MTCC on January 17, 2023, with a budget of over MVR 46 million and a completion period of 400 days.
