President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has emphasised the importance of population migration to islands with major infrastructure developments as a means to promote sustainable regional growth. He made the call during the official inauguration of Muli Airport, the first airport in Meemu Atoll.
Highlighting the benefits of the new airport, the President stated that it would not only improve connectivity but also bring significant economic opportunities to the entire atoll. He announced several ongoing and planned development projects in the region, including the construction of 300 housing units in Muli, aimed at addressing housing needs and creating opportunities for young people and those seeking relocation.
The President encouraged people to consider moving to islands like Muli, where infrastructure is being rapidly developed. He stressed that such migration is essential for balanced population distribution and long-term national development.
President Dr Muizzu reiterated that his Administration's efforts are aligned with the wishes of the people, with a focus on fulfilling their aspirations through sustainable and inclusive development.
