Minister Muththalib encourages Meemu Atoll to drive local investment

Minister of Construction, Housing and Infrastructure, Dr Abdulla Muththalib, has urged residents of Meemu Atoll to focus on attracting investment opportunities to the region rather than migrating to other areas.
During his remarks at the inauguration ceremony of the first Airport in Meemu Atoll, Milu Airport, Minister Dr Muththalib emphasised the importance of Muli Airport for the economy and stated that the airport will open up doors for new investment opportunities in the atoll.
The Government has spent MVR 540 million on developing Muli Airport, an investment amounting to over MVR 100,000 per resident of Meemu Atoll. The minister urged the residents of the atoll to accept the Government’s efforts and to work for the development of the Atoll.
He further highlighted the development potential of the atoll, especially in the tourism sector.
The first Airport in Meemu Atoll, the Muli Airport, was inaugurated today by President Dr Mohamed Muizzu. The Airport was developed by the Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC).
