Ministry of Fisheries Marine Resources and Agriculture, in collaboration with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), has organised training programmes across various regions of the Maldives to support the growth of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) within the fishing industry.

Under the JICA project, successful training programmes were held in R. Maduvvari, F. Nilandhoo, and M. Dhiggaru. These sessions equipped participants with essential skills for starting, managing, and growing small businesses.

A training programme on preparation of value-added fish products was also conducted in Gn. Fuvahmulah. Participants learned various techniques for processing fish, including drying, smoking, packaging, and safe storage of fish products. The programme also covered essential topics on marketing and branding, equipping participants with the knowledge to promote and sell their products.
