Minister of Islamic Affairs Dr Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed has announced that a dedicated health clinic will be established in Makkah for Maldivian Hajj pilgrims, following official approval from the Saudi government.

The initiative marks the first time such a facility is being set up in collaboration with a Saudi hospital.

The clinic will be located within the hotel where Maldivian pilgrims are staying and will be operated in partnership with Abeer Hospital in Makkah. According to the Minister, the Maldives Hajj Corporation has prepared a comprehensive health system at the clinic, which will offer medical treatment and hospital beds.

The establishment of the clinic is part of the Government’s broader efforts to enhance Hajj arrangements and provide improved services for Maldivian pilgrims. These efforts also include steps to make the Hajj more affordable and accessible.

Recent developments include the Maldives' inclusion in the Makkah Route Initiative, which allows pilgrims to complete immigration and health procedures prior to departure. Additionally, the Bank of Maldives (BML) has approved an increased foreign exchange allocation for pilgrims, adding USD 1,750 to the existing monthly limit of USD 250.
