The Malé Water and Sewerage Company (MWSC) has officially commissioned the new water and sewerage system in Baa Kendhoo following successful testing.
The commissioning followed a visit by officials from the Ministry of Construction, Housing and Infrastructure, FENAKA Corporation, and MWSC.
As part of the water system project, MWSC constructed a dedicated facility building for the water plant, installed the main water network, and established the full water supply system. The works included the installation of a water treatment plant, drilling of boreholes, installation of a reject line, and the addition of a water storage tank to ensure reliable access to clean drinking water.
For the sewerage system, MWSC laid the main sewerage and pumping lines, built a pumping station, and installed a sea outfall. Households have been connected to the system through properly placed junctions. The project also includes water quality analysis equipment and operational vehicles to support the maintenance of the sewerage infrastructure.
The project was awarded by the Ministry of Construction, Housing and Infrastructure at a cost of MVR 56.26 million.
