The Maldives Water and Sewerage Company (MWSC) has announced the successful completion of the water and sewerage infrastructure project in Gaafu Dhaalu Vaadhoo. The announcement was made on Thursday, following final testing and system verification.

The project was carried out in collaboration with the Ministry of Construction, Housing and Infrastructure, with a total investment of MVR 61 million. MWSC confirmed that all core components have been completed and are now fully operational.

Key components of the Vaadhoo Water and Sewerage Project include:

  • Establishment of a facility building for the water treatment plant
  • Installation of the main water distribution network and household connections
  • Installation of the water production plant, borehole drilling, and reject line installation
  • Construction of a water storage tank
  • Construction of a pumping line and the main sewerage network
  • Establishment of a pumping station and sea outflow system
  • Placement of household junctions and sewerage connections

MWSC stated that the project’s completion will provide Vaadhoo residents with reliable access to safe drinking water and improved sanitation services.

The Government continues to entrust both state-owned and private companies with infrastructure projects across the islands as part of broader efforts to ensure equitable development. MWSC is currently overseeing several simultaneous projects, including ongoing work to establish water and sewerage systems in Baa Kudarikilu and Noonu Magoodhoo. The company recently confirmed that the first shipments of materials for these projects have arrived at the respective sites.
