Zam'ath Ahmed Waheed has been appointed as a member of the Maldives Broadcasting Commission following parliamentary approval. The appointment was made by President Dr Mohamed Muizzu in accordance with Section 6(a) of the Broadcasting Act (Act No. 16/2010).

Zam'ath’s nomination was forwarded to the Parliament after the President’s Office opened applications for the vacancy created by the expiry of Aiminath Amina’s term in May. Among six eligible candidates submitted to Parliament, Zam'ath was one of three shortlisted by the Independent Institutions Committee after scoring over 75 per cent in evaluations. Her appointment was confirmed with unanimous support from 56 lawmakers.

Zam'ath holds a Master of Arts in Journalism from the Islamic University of Maldives, completed in 2022, and has been active in the country’s media sector since 2006. With this addition, the Maldives Broadcasting Commission now comprises seven members.
