The Maldives Police Service has announced that vehicles parked illegally along Boduthakurufaanu Magu will be towed as part of a renewed effort to improve traffic flow and pedestrian safety in Malé City.
In a statement shared on Thursday, the police said the operation will target vehicles parked from the corner of Hithigas Magu to Meheli Goalhi. Illegally parked vehicles will be removed and held for 48 hours before being released. Action will also be taken against drivers responsible for such violations.
The police urged the public to pay special attention to parking in designated zones and called for continued cooperation in maintaining safe and accessible roads. The statement also thanked the public for their support in ensuring road safety and order.
This initiative follows an earlier announcement made last year to tighten enforcement against vehicles obstructing major roads, including Ameenee Magu and Majeedhee Magu, particularly those interfering with public transport routes and pedestrian access.
As part of its broader traffic management efforts, the police have also been disposing of abandoned and unclaimed vehicles. A total of 568 vehicles were destroyed last month.
