An additional team from Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has been deployed to Haa Alifu Baarah to accelerate construction of a Government-funded mosque.

On his X account, Baarah constituency MP Ibrahim Shujau said the extra team was sent to the island to expedite the project, adding that work is expected to progress at a faster pace.

The mosque is designed to accommodate up to 500 worshippers. The project includes a prayer hall, living quarters for the imam, and separate ablution facilities for men and women.

MTCC said the scope of work also covers installation of air conditioning and the construction of three restroom facilities.

In addition to the mosque, MTCC is undertaking the development of a police station on the island.
