First Lady Saajidha Mohamed has extended heartfelt greetings to Muslims around the world on the occasion of the Islamic New Year, 1447 AH.

In a message shared on social media, the First Lady conveyed her best wishes to the Maldivian people, expressing hopes for a blessed year ahead. She also offered prayers for continued peace and prosperity across the Islamic Ummah, as well as success and good fortune for the Maldives.

The Islamic New Year, also known as the Hijri New Year, commemorates the historic migration (Hijrah) of the Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) from Makkah to Madinah in 622 CE. This momentous event marks the beginning of the Islamic calendar. The new year begins on the 1st of Muharram, the first month in the Islamic lunar calendar.
