Minister of Finance and Planning Moosa Zameer met with Jin Liqun, President of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB), on the sidelines of the 10th AIIB Annual Meeting held in Beijing, China.

During the meeting, the two officials discussed strengthening the Maldives–AIIB partnership and ongoing support for key infrastructure initiatives in the country. Particular focus was given to the Waste-to-Energy project, one of the AIIB-supported developments aimed at contributing to the Maldives’ environmental and economic sustainability.

Discussions also covered potential areas for future collaboration, with both sides expressing interest in exploring new financing opportunities aligned with the Government’s broader national development agenda.

The AIIB Annual Meeting serves as a platform for member countries to engage in dialogue on strategic priorities, investment partnerships, and emerging opportunities in infrastructure financing.
