Two minors were critically injured in a motorcycle accident on R. Fainu on Thursday night, according to local council officials.

The incident occurred when a speeding motorcycle, ridden by two individuals under the age of 18, struck two pedestrians who were out exercising. As both riders were underage, neither held a valid driving licence.

The riders sustained the most serious injuries and are receiving treatment at the Raa Atoll Regional Hospital in Ungoofaaru. Hospital officials confirm both are in critical condition.

The pedestrians also suffered injuries but are reported to be in stable condition.
