President Dr Muizzu sends Independence Day greetings to Seychelles

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has extended warm Independence Day greetings to Seychelles, reaffirming the Maldives’ commitment to strengthening its close bilateral ties with the island nation.

In a message to Seychelles President Wavel Ramkalawan, President Dr Muizzu highlighted the long-standing friendship between the two Indian Ocean nations and their cooperation in promoting regional peace, security and sustainable development.

In a statement shared via his official X account, President Dr Muizzu also conveyed his best wishes to the government and people of Seychelles. He expressed hope that the celebrations would be filled with joy and togetherness, and reiterated the Maldives’ commitment to advancing shared goals in regional peace and prosperity.

Seychelles gained independence from British colonial rule on June 29, 1976, becoming a sovereign republic within the Commonwealth.
