A delegation from the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye paid a courtesy call on President Dr Mohamed Muizzu this morning at the President’s Office.

President Dr Muizzu welcomed the delegation, representing the Türkiye–Maldives Interparliamentary Friendship Group, and reaffirmed the Maldives’ commitment to deepening ties with Türkiye. He praised the group’s multi-party composition, calling it a reflection of Türkiye’s vibrant political landscape.

President Dr Muizzu also outlined the Maldives’ national climate action priorities, including economic reform, adaptation efforts, and investment in renewable energy. He further commended Türkiye’s firm stance on the Palestinian cause, noting that the Maldives shares a similarly resolute position.

The delegation discussed opportunities to expand collaboration in areas such as trade, tourism, higher education, and agriculture. Both sides also highlighted the importance of enhancing economic ties and advancing trade agreements.

The meeting concluded with both sides pledging to further strengthen the long-standing friendship between the Maldives and Türkiye.
