A foreign university has pledged to donate 60,000 Islamic books to support the development of libraries in Islamic centers across the country, according to Minister of Islamic Affairs Dr Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed.

The donation will contribute to the establishment of libraries in Islamic Centers located in Dhidhdhoo, Ungoofaaru, Thinadhoo, and Addu, as well as other centers currently under development in various atolls.

Minister Dr Shaheem stated that preparations are underway to begin setting up libraries in already operational centers. 

He added that the initiative aligns with President Dr Mohamed Muizzu’s presidential pledge to enhance Islamic education and access to religious knowledge nationwide.

In addition, the Islamic library at the Salman Mosque in Malé is nearing completion, reflecting the Government’s commitment to promoting Islamic scholarship and learning opportunities throughout the country.
