The Maldives Police Service has concluded a specialised training programme conducted by a visiting team of senior officers from Singapore’s Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB), aimed at enhancing the country’s operational and investigative response to drug-related offences.

The sessions, held from 21 to 24 July in Malé, focused on two key areas of narcotics enforcement: controlled delivery operations and financial investigations tied to drug offences. Officers from multiple units including Drug Enforcement, Counter-Narcotics Intelligence, Gang Crime Enforcement, and Economic Crimes participated in the programme.

According to the Maldives Police Service, the sessions provided in-depth insight into modern investigative methods, operational protocols, and best practices in cross-border drug enforcement. The training is part of efforts to improve local capacity in addressing sophisticated narcotics operations and financial crime.

In conjunction with the training, a consultative meeting was held on 21 July at the Sergeant Adam Haleem Criminal Investigation Building. The meeting was attended by Assistant Commissioner of Police Abdulla Shareef, Head of Central Investigation Command, senior officers from CNB, and key members of the Maldives Police’s narcotics and intelligence units. Discussions centred on strengthening institutional collaboration between the Maldives Police Service and the CNB. Both sides explored opportunities for operational cooperation, technical support, and continued professional development through joint training initiatives.
