Gedhoruveriya flats ---

The Fahi Dhiriulhun Corporation (FDC) has resumed the signing of lease agreements for 4,000 flats under its housing scheme, following a brief pause during the Independence Day break.

The agreement signing process officially began on 21 July 2025 and recommenced today at the synthetic track in Hulhumalé’s Furathama Phase. The signing is scheduled daily from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

According to FDC, the Housing Ministry verifies applicants' information before forwarding their details to the corporation. Once verified, FDC sends out SMS notifications instructing applicants to access the corporation’s Fahi portal for the next steps.

Applicants are required to upload copies of their own and co-applicant’s ID cards to the portal before signing. During the physical signing, they must bring the original ID card and two copies of the witness's ID card, along with signed documents as required.

The lease agreement offers tenants the option to rent to eventually own the flat upon full payment. Unlike earlier housing schemes, the new agreement also outlines a mechanism to adjust Government subsidies in case of rent non-payment, aiming to ease financial pressure on tenants.

The FDC housing scheme is part of the Government’s commitment to improve access to affordable housing across the Maldives.
