The Road Development Corporation (RDC) has released its latest progress report on several infrastructure projects across the Maldives, as part of the Government’s wider development efforts.
On 24 July, the RDC provided updates on ongoing works in four islands, highlighting notable progress on sports and road infrastructure in across atolls. This includes the construction of turf and fencing for football and futsal fields, as well as road modernisation works.
In Dhaalu Kunburudhoo, RDC reported that 50 per cent of the turf laying for the football field expansion has been completed. Similarly, in Alifu Dhaalu Mahibadhoo, significant progress has been made on the construction of a futsal ground under the Public Sector Investment Programme. The turf has already been delivered to the island, and fencing work is underway.
Meanwhile, in Gaafu Dhaalu Kolamaafushi, the corporation has been carrying out multiple development initiatives. A meeting was held on 23 July between RDC officials and council members to review the progress of ongoing works.
In Haa Alifu Ihavandhoo, RDC has begun road modernisation works, including the installation of corner kerbstones and stormwater junctions.
The release of these updates follows President Dr Mohamed Muizzu’s recent visit to 13 inhabited islands of Noonu Atoll, during which he signed a number of new development projects to be handed over to the RDC. These include the establishment of police stations, health facilities, and a community-based rehabilitation centre in Noonu Velidhoo.
RDC’s expanding portfolio reflects its growing role in supporting Government-led infrastructure and community development initiatives across the nation.
