The Maldives Police Service has confirmed that all eligible police officers are receiving the revised salaries announced by the Government, dismissing ongoing rumours to the contrary.

In a statement issued on 29 July, the police clarified that the increased salary payments began in April 2024 and are being disbursed without any deductions. The clarification follows public speculation that some officers had not received the revised pay.

The revised salary structure was approved by President Dr Mohamed Muizzu on 19 March 2024, introducing a 35 per cent increase in pay for all police officers. This represents the most significant salary revision for the police force since 2009.

The police also addressed queries regarding Special Constabulary officers, who are appointed under separate service agreements. According to the statement, those serving under the Special Constabulary are paid in accordance with the terms of their contracts and the specific regulations that govern the service. Under newly signed agreements, Special Constabulary officers will also receive the revised salary.
