Ahmed Mubeen has resigned from his post as Managing Director of Regional Airports Company Limited (RACL), as the state-owned enterprise prepares for a merger with Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL).

RACL announced his resignation via its official social media platforms and extended its gratitude for his service.

The planned merger between RACL and MACL was announced in September last year as part of efforts to streamline operations and reduce costs. As a preliminary step, RACL has been working to initiate its liquidation process.

RACL is among the largest state-owned enterprises in terms of budget allocation. According to data published by the Privatization and Corporatization Board (PCB), the company posted a net loss of MVR 95 million in 2023. The planned merger with MACL is part of Government efforts to reduce operational costs and improve efficiency within state-owned enterprises.
