Minister of Homeland Security and Technology Ali Ihusaan on Thursday inaugurated the construction of a new police station in Baa Maalhos, as part of the Government’s initiative to establish police services in every inhabited island.

The ceremony took place during President Dr Mohamed Muizzu’s four-day tour of Baa Atoll, with Maalhos serving as the final stop. 

Attendees included President Dr Muizzu, Commissioner of Police Ismail Naveen, Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) Managing Director Ahmed Saudhee, and members of the Maalhos Island Council.

MTCC is undertaking the construction of the facility, which aims to strengthen law enforcement presence and services on the island.

During the visit, Bank of Maldives (BML) also launched ATM services in Maalhos. To mark the opening, President Dr Muizzu made the first cash withdrawal from the new machine.
