Maldives Ports Limited (MPL) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Ministry of Social and Family Development to provide employment opportunities for persons with disabilities, individuals under State care, and those facing financial hardship.

The agreement, announced this week, is aimed at expanding access to work experience and long-term employment for groups that often face barriers in the labour market. According to the ministry, the initiative is an important step in creating opportunities for people whose living standards have deteriorated due to financial constraints, as well as those requiring state supervision.

The ministry described the MoU as a commitment to social security and equal opportunity, noting that it reinforces efforts to ensure inclusivity across the workforce. Under the arrangement, MPL will work with the ministry to identify suitable roles and create pathways for integration into the workplace, helping to reduce inequalities and promote broader social participation.
