The Civil Service Commission (CSC) has announced changes to the way employment service is calculated for civil servants at the age of retirement, introducing a more inclusive system to recognise broader work experience.
Under the revised approach, the CSC said the period of service will now include time spent in other State institutions outside the civil service, including State-owned companies with majority Government shareholding, in addition to years served directly within the Government.
The Commission explained that if employees currently in service have previous work experience in such institutions, their records must be submitted through their employment agency to the ‘Experience’ section of CSView. The documents must be duly certified in accordance with the Bar Councils standards, ensuring standardised verification and recognition of prior work experience.
To support implementation, the CSC has also released a model template for preparing experience documents, which details the information required under the rules and the criteria for eligibility in appointments to the civil service.
