Members of Parliament who have not submitted their asset declarations have been given a 15-day deadline to comply.

Members’ asset declarations were published on 3 September, and Parliament’s media officer confirmed that notices have been issued to those who have yet to comply.

So far, 88 out of 93 MPs have submitted their asset declarations, while five have not.

Under Article 75 of Parliament’s Standing Orders, MPs are required to declare their assets, as well as those of their spouses and children under 18, to the Secretary General. Only members’ own declarations are published on the Parliament website.

Article 77 of the Standing Orders further stipulates that MPs who fail to submit their asset declarations within the required timeframe must first be issued a written notice. If they do not comply within the notice period, the Speaker must publicly announce their names and bar them from participating in parliamentary sittings.

MPs suspended under this rule can only return once their asset declarations are filed, and their daily allowance will be deducted for each day of non-compliance.
