Malé City Group of Hospitals (MCGH), in collaboration with the Ministry of Health, has launched a multi-specialty surgical camp at Raa Ungoofaaru Regional Hospital.

The camp, which began on 5 September, will continue until 8 September.

As part of the programme, doctors from a wide range of specialties are providing consultations, carrying out surgical operations, and offering training to doctors and nurses at Ungoofaaru Hospital. A capacity assessment is also being conducted to evaluate the hospital’s clinical and functional services.

The Ministry of Health has introduced such outreach programmes to expand access to specialised medical care in the atolls. In addition to benefiting patients, the initiative gives healthcare professionals in Ungoofaaru the chance to gain hands-on experience alongside the visiting team of doctors.

MCGH CEO Ibrahim Abdul Razzaq Haleem said the group is committed to working with the Ministry of Health and regional hospitals to expand healthcare services available in the atolls.

MCGH is the largest hospital network in the Maldives, comprising Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH), Villimalé Hospital, and Hulhumalé Hospital. Earlier this year, the Maldivian Blood Service and the Thalassaemia Centre were also brought under its management.
