President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has congratulated Maldives Post Limited on the occasion of its 119th anniversary, acknowledging the corporation’s role in strengthening communication and contributing to the nation’s development.

In a message shared on ‘X’, President Dr Muizzu expressed pride in the senior officials and employees who have served in the postal sector. He extended his gratitude and best wishes to those who have dedicated their service to ensuring reliable communication across the Maldives.

Since the opening of the first post office on 9 September 1906, the service has evolved from using Sri Lanka’s 25-cent stamps to issuing Maldivian stamps in 1909, and later expanding nationwide with agency post offices in 1994. Now operating as a fully State-owned company, Maldives Post delivers services to all inhabited islands, continuing its historic role in connecting communities across the country and strengthening links with the wider region.
