The Prosecutor General’s Office (PGO) has instructed the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) to fast-track investigations into major corruption cases, including those related to Fenaka Corporation and the Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC).
According to the PGO, the ACC has been ordered to prepare a directive in line with instructions issued on 26 January 2025 and complete the Fenaka probe within the stipulated timeframe. In the MMPRC case, the ACC has been told to cancel agreements that prevent prosecution of certain individuals, expedite related investigations, and was instructed to submit the cases to the PGO by 19 January 2025. Progress updates relating to this must be shared with the PGO by 8 October 2025.
The PGO confirmed that investigations into the MMPRC scandal are ongoing and that they have concluded another case related to it. Special prosecution teams have been established to provide round-the-clock support to the ACC, while both the ACC and Maldives Police Service have been tasked with conducting thorough investigations into all individuals implicated. Efforts are also underway to trace and recover State funds and assets linked to the cases.
