The Maldives Inland Revenue Authority (MIRA) has stated that MVR 543 million was recovered last month through efforts to collect outstanding payments owed to the State.
In its financial report for April, MIRA said the amount was recovered through various enforcement and recovery measures aimed at collecting unpaid taxes and other outstanding dues owed to the Government.
The authority stated that the funds were recovered through notices issued to parties with outstanding payments, dues clearance procedures, instalment agreements, reminder phone calls, and action policy measures.
MIRA highlighted that the largest portion of the recovered amount, MVR 372 million, was collected through notices issued to parties with outstanding payments, while a further MVR 96 million was recovered through dues clearance procedures. In addition, MVR 64 million was collected through instalment agreements, MVR 5 million through reminder phone calls, and MVR 4 million through action policy measures.
In addition, MIRA stated that the increase in enforcement measures has contributed to ongoing efforts to recover unpaid tax and non-tax revenue owed to the State.
Last month, the authority also published the names of 48 parties that failed to meet Corporate and Personal Income Tax obligations.
