The Business Centre Corporation (BCC) has launched a new initiative titled "Dhivehi Raajjeyge Iqthisaadhee Furamala 2025" aimed at gathering data on economic development projects across the Maldives, with a focus on analyzing gender distribution among project contractors.

The initiative was officially inaugurated by Minister of Economic Development and Trade Mohamed Saeed, who emphasised its importance for the nation’s economic growth and urged for careful and thorough implementation.

As part of this nationwide effort, BCC will deploy teams to all inhabited islands to collect up-to-date economic data, supplementing it with statistics from various local administrations. Fieldwork is set to start this month in Haa Alif Atoll, with an anticipated completion date by mid-2025.

Deputy Managing Director of BCC, Saamih Adam, highlighted that the initiative will yield benefits even before completion, including enhanced support for identifying and aiding small and medium enterprises (SMEs). BCC stated that this initiative is critical for informed decision-making by national leaders and will also encourage both local and foreign investments by centralising all economy-related data under one comprehensive framework.
