The National Pay Commission (NPC) has announced that the implementation of the National Pay Framework has increased the salaries of more than 20,000 state employees.
The National Pay Framework, established under the State Pay Policy Act, aims to standardise the salaries and allowances of all government employees. The latest eighth amendment to the framework equalises pay across three key sectors, including the civil service, judiciary, and local councils, as part of President Dr Mohamed Muizzu’s pledge to harmonise Government salaries.
Speaking on PSM News, NPC Member Randha Fuad said the changes were introduced following extensive studies and consultations with relevant stakeholders. She noted that positions have been classified and job matrices developed to eliminate salary disparities among employees holding equivalent ranks in the same fields.
According to NPC Member Afaf Ibrahim Alididi, over 300 job matrices have been created under the new framework, which has also helped identify sectors that require workforce strengthening and future human resource development.
The Pay Commission assured that no employee’s salary will be reduced under the new framework and reaffirmed that all State employees will continue to receive salaries above the current minimum wage.
