Maldives has commenced construction of its inaugural Olympic-standard swimming facility, scheduled for completion in 2025. Minister of Sports and Fitness Abdulla Rafiu noted that the project is progressing steadily under the technical guidance of the Swimming Association, advancing a long-anticipated national development objective.

The current Administration has successfully navigated the preliminary phases within its initial year, building upon the groundwork laid by previous governments. This facility represents a significant step forward in the nation's sporting infrastructure, positioning the Maldives to host international aquatic events.

Minister Rafiu emphasised that this development aligns with the Government's comprehensive vision for enhancing national sporting capabilities and infrastructure.
