Ballot boxes for Hithadhoo North by-election to be dispatched on Wednesday

The Elections Commission has announced that ballot boxes for the Hithadhoo North constituency by-election will be dispatched on Wednesday ahead of polling scheduled for next week.

Speaking to MMTV, the commission said the ballot boxes will begin being sent out from 3 June in preparation for the by-election, which is set to take place on 6 June.

A total of 4,121 voters are eligible to cast their ballots in the Hithadhoo North parliamentary by-election.

Seven ballot boxes will be used for the election, including two designated for voters from the constituency residing in Malé and five located in Addu City.

In Malé, voting will take place at the southern building of Dharumavantha School. In Addu City, voters will cast their ballots at Hithadhoo School.

The by-election will be contested by candidates from the two main political parties. Representing the People's National Congress (PNC) is former Moolukede councillor Ahmed Saeed, who was assigned candidate number one.

The Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) candidate is former Addu City Mayor Abdulla Sodiq (Sobe), who was assigned candidate number two.

Voting for the Hithadhoo North by-election will take place on 6 June from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
