Construction of the new 50-bed Baa Atoll Hospital in Eydhafushi has officially begun, with the project inaugurated by Minister of Health Abdulla Nazim Ibrahim. Minister Nazim described the development as a long-awaited project that will introduce a wide range of essential healthcare services, benefiting both the residents of Eydhafushi and the wider region.

The hospital, to be built by the Road Development Corporation (RDC) at a cost of MVR 181.7 million, is scheduled for completion within 540 days. Eydhafushi, a key island in the atoll frequently visited for services, has also been identified by the Government as a future urban centre. The project is part of the Administration’s broader national effort to expand healthcare infrastructure through the construction of modern medical facilities across the Maldives.
