The Ministry of Defence has announced that 350 participants are being selected for the second round of the Maldives National Service training programme, a flagship initiative launched by President Dr Mohamed Muizzu to develop disciplined, resilient and service-oriented young citizens.

According to the Ministry, the selection process is currently underway across multiple locations including Raa Ungoofaaru, Alifu Dhaalu Mahibadhoo, Laamu Gan, Addu City, Hithadhoo, and Malé City. Applicants are undergoing interviews, medical examinations, aptitude assessments and fitness tests as part of the evaluation procedure.

The second cohort follows the first batch of 350 trainees, who are presently undertaking their programme in Maafilaafushi. The National Service programme aims to instil patriotism, strengthen Islamic values, build mental and physical resilience, and prepare youth to contribute effectively in times of national need, including emergencies and disasters.

Officials emphasised that the programme is designed to nurture responsible, skilled and community-minded young people, while promoting unity and national pride among participants.
