Key sports initiatives were launched in Raa Dhuvaafaru on Saturday as part of President Dr Mohamed Muizzu’s official visit to the island.

Practical works for an Outdoor Volleyball Court were inaugurated by Minister of Sports, Fitness and Recreation Abdulla Rafiu. The project is being implemented by Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC).

In addition, an agreement was signed between Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) Managing Director Ibrahim Shareef Mohamed and Minister Abdulla Rafiu for the development of a sports complex in Raa Dhuvaafaru. The facility is planned as a regional hub for multiple sporting disciplines.

The sports complex forms part of the Government’s initiative to develop regional sports hubs across the country, with similar facilities planned in six regions nationwide.
