President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has assured residents that their concerns will be addressed in line with laws and regulations, while giving priority to improving existing systems. He made the remarks during a meeting with the people of Galolhu at Imaduddin School last night.

President Dr Muizzu highlighted several issues raised in recent public discussions, noting that his Administration is working to resolve them within a short timeframe.

As a first step, he addressed concerns over housing rules. Previously, residents who had received one-bedroom flats under government schemes were barred from reapplying. President Dr Muizzu confirmed that the rules have now been amended, allowing eligible families to exchange their one-bedroom units for larger three-bedroom apartments under the “Housing for All” programme.

The President also tackled the issue of massage parlours, which have been a source of concern for many residents. He revealed that 52 parlours were shut down in a single week, with 24 closed during ongoing inspections and the remainder shutting down voluntarily. He assured that the operation will continue.

Another pressing matter raised was the presence of illegal immigrants. The President reiterated his Government’s commitment to curbing unlawful activity, noting that 38 businesses operated by foreigners had been closed within two weeks as part of intensified enforcement.

In addition, President Dr Muizzu pledged that the Ministry of Sports will continue developing the Galolhu sports ground in response to community requests. He also fielded questions on healthcare and education costs, stressing that all concerns voiced by the public are taken seriously.

Concluding the meeting, President Dr Muizzu reaffirmed his commitment to resolving the issues raised, assuring residents that his Government will act decisively to meet their needs.
