The Housing Development Corporation (HDC) has extended the deadline for allocating car parking spaces for buyers of the Vinares flats, giving flat owners more time to apply.

Initially, applications were open from November 25 to December 5. However, following the expiry of the initial deadline, HDC has announced that the new deadline is December 12, 2024.

Car parking spaces at the Vinares flats are being allocated under two different models. There are 76 parking spaces located inside the building, which come with the added benefit of vehicle registration. The second option consists of 78 parking spaces located outside the building, which does not allow parking registration.

To be eligible for a parking space, applicants must be the main flat buyer who has signed a purchase agreement for the Vinares project, and each applicant is limited to one parking space, which will be allocated under their flat purchase agreement.

The starting bid for an indoor parking space is MVR 650,000. Successful bidders will be allowed to register their vehicles in these spaces and are required to pay the total price within 30 days. In contrast, the outdoor parking spaces are available for lease with a starting price of MVR 2,000 for a five-year term. Those allocated the outdoor spaces will have seven days to pay a security deposit equivalent to three months’ rent.

HDC has clarified that applications for both purchase and lease of parking spaces can be submitted through their online portal.
