Velana International Airport’s (VIA) Terminal 1 has commenced operations for HiSky

The inaugural HiSky flight to Terminal 1 was welcomed with a ceremonial water salute. Passengers were received by Group General Manager of Maldives Inflight Catering Ali Shakir, Deputy Manager of Voyages Maldives Ignaz Mansoor, along with representatives from HiSky and executive members of Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL).

Terminal 1 was officially opened on this year’s Independence Day by President Dr Mohamed Muizzu. The previous terminal, which was built in 1978, faced significant capacity constraints. In contrast, MACL said the new terminal has the capacity to handle up to 7.5 million passengers annually.
